.

Because National Day fell on a Sunday this year, we are off today too.

Selegie blocks 8 & 9 are probably the most photographed buildings in Singapore during the month leading to August 9th National Day ;-)

The Government encourages individuals and businesses to fly the National Flag during the National Day celebrations period from 1 July to 30 September each year. The flags on this building however are hang by the city council not the individual household hence why every single balcony has a flag.

HDB fascinates me. It’s such a melting pot of people. There is often little difference between the common area and the private area, front doors are often left open and people take ‘ownership’ of the common area in front of their door.

I still remember when a Singaporean friend of mine told me I could go up in any HDB since it’s public housing…. that changed my perspective of photography in Singapore for ever (but always always be respectful)
