I did not spending more than 3k last week Friday@Cinema... Just to watch the lion King.. It really worth my money.. Everything about the animation is real.. And not Nollywood.. That their animals are always flying.. Der leg can't even be on the ground ND also hungry looking.. Nollywood should stop the blame game and reform its industry.. Like our music industry is going globally and we are not complaining because our music industry is really good .. But for Nollywood I can't spend my money to watch that trash.. All thanks to Ebonytv, Iroko, LITV.. I can manage their movies... They are really trying to remove Nigeria from trash about our kwekekweke Nollywood movies. #kachi

I think not. Have we not seen successful Nigerian movies? Nigerians have their own stories to tell but if you leave them they will just sit down and remain comfortable telling the same old stories because they know we have no choice. It's not everytime prayer warrior and pastor going to village to defeat the evil babalawo. What of historical movies (pre/post independence not village movie everytime) , movies about the old gods (there's a lot untapped potential there especially the Yoruba pantheon), movies about the Nigerian experience in general. The fact is Nigerians will ultimately see movies they can relate to and no one knows more about being Nigerian than a Nigerian. The Nigerian movie industry has grown immensely over the years even with foreign movie presence, people should have the freedom to chose what they want. What will really make nollywood more attractive is better scripts, better plots, better directing and most importantly better acting. Enough of the “my mama no like my wife” and “this one don jazz that one” movies. We have no real action movies, no real thrillers, no psychological thrillers,no real romance movies, just movies depicting mundane Nigerian drama. If you want Nollywood to thrive, banning foreign movies won’t achieve anything, it will simply make the hustlers start churning out even more lackluster content for profit, leaving us with an even worse movie industry.
