Early in 2017, the Lagos State government made known its decision to relocate the Computer Village in Ikeja to ICT Park, Katangowa in Abule Egba, Lagos Nigeria.

Fifteen months after making the announcement, a single concrete block is yet to be laid on the proposed new location of the prominent ICT market.

Bridgeways Global Projects Limited is in charge of the new market which is a Lagos State Government project.

Techpoint learnt through a source that the construction of the ICT Park will commence "soon" and is expected to be completed within the next 2 years.

According to the source, the ICT Park would have 3 plazas with 1,270 shops in each plaza, amounting to a total of 3,810 shops. The spaces that are expected to be available in the plaza include 10 and 11 square-metere shops.

It appears that the plan for the new market puts those selling under umbrellas into consideration. There will be 2 square-metre spaces which are located outside the plaza.

The shops are currently available for sale on outright ownership for 36 years after which renewal is required with the Lagos State government for an additional 99 years.

Payment can also be spread across 12 or 24 months.

Punch Newspapers recently reported that Bridgeways Global Projects Limited is working on providing a technology incubation hub in the park.

As it is, we will have to wait for at least another 2 years to see whatever the Lagos State Government and Bridgeways have in stock for the park, apart from viewing its pictorial drawing.
