Taya Valkyrie is returning to AAA for a new Facebook wrestling show

Taya will be joined by Fenix and Pentagon Jr. in a special 24 luchador tournament.

In a lucha libre bombshell, Taya Valkyrie tweeted that she will be returning to AAA.

Taya left AAA in Summer 2017 after they did her dirty. She has always had a deep love for Mexico, but a return looked bleak. However, the wrestling industry is one in that time heals all wounds.

Taya will be part of a newly announced 24 luchador Lucha Capital international tournament. The competition is scheduled to air each Wednesday over eight consecutive weeks live on Facebook. It begins this Wednesday (October 31) at 8:30pm local Mexico City time. The Great Pumpkin could not have picked a better present to bring on Halloween.

Time note: Mexico did the daylight savings time change last Sunday. The October 31 show will air at 10:30pm ET in the USA. After the US changes their time next Sunday (Nov. 4), the November 7 show, and beyond, will air at 9:30pm ET.

The full field will be Taya, Psycho Clown, Murder Clown, Pagano, Taurus, Pentagon Jr., Puma King, Vanilla Vargas, La Hiedra, Killer Kross, Hijo del Vikingo, Laredo Kid, Drago, Aerostar, Maximo, Lady Shani, Lady Maravilla, Fenix, Golden Magic, Texano Jr., Niño Hamburguesa, Australian Suicide, Mascarita Sagrada, and Keyra.

Lucha Libre AAA

If I understand the press release correctly, the tournament will have a point system. The first three weeks in stage one will be one-on-one matches with the winner earning three points. Stage two’s three weeks will be more one-on-one matches with winners also earning three points. If a luchador has six points, they will move on to the grand finale. All luchadores with three points will compete in stage three (one week) for a special night worth five points. I’m unclear about what stage three entails exactly.

The final night (Dec. 19) will feature seven matches to determine the finals and overall winner. Four fights will be three-ways, which must mean that half the field will make it to this round. Those winners will have one-on-one matches leading to an ultimate one-on-one affair, i.e. a four luchador bracket.

The action kicks off October 31 with:

  • Taurus vs Pagano
  • Vanilla Vargas vs La Hiedra
  • Psycho Clown vs Murder Clown
  • Puma King vs Pentagon Junior

As a bonus treat, Vampiro will be live on commentary. If his Spanish announcing is anything like his English style in Mexico, it should be a barrel of laughs.

How excited are you to see Taya in a AAA ring again? Who is your pick to win the Lucha Capital tournament?
