A two storey building located on the popular Olushi street in Lagos Island collapsed but luckily, no life was lost.

Confirming the incident, Lagos State Rapid Response Squad said, ‘we are presently at the scene of a collapsed building on Olushi street, Lagos island.

LASEMA and other emergency responders are on ground. No lives were lost’.

I wonder if they don't use sharp sand in building houses in Lagos. Too many weak structures and they don't seem to be bothered . Last time I went to see a friend I discovered the deck was already peeling . I jeje asked him to take me to a nearby hotel .

This is not "collapse". It is called "failure". when a building collapses, the entire structure comes down meaning it has failed in it's Ultimate limit state. In this case, the building is still under serviceable condition and can be corrected to withstand loading. it hasn't gotten to it's ultimate limit state where total collapse will be experienced.
