Investing.com - Video game stocks were under pressure in midday trade Monday after U.S. President Donald Trump said violent video games were partly to blame for mass shootings.

His comments were made in the wake of two mass shootings over the weekend, with 20 people killed at a Walmart (NYSE:WMT) store in El Paso, Texas and nine people were killed in a separate shooting in Dayton, Ohio.

Activision Blizzard (NASDAQ:ATVI) slumped 5.5%, while Take-Two (NASDAQ:TTWO) fell 5% and Zynga (NASDAQ:ZNGA) was down 3.8%. Retailer GameStop (NYSE:GME) declined 3.8% and Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:EA) lost 3.6%.

“We must stop the glorification of violence in our society,” Trump said during a speech on Monday. “This includes the gruesome and grisly video games that are now commonplace.”

A connection between violent video games and violent behavior has not been established and is debated on by experts.

All these happen bcos the President of US are D instigator born with Satan intention as he did not say that what happen (chanting of "people of color shoulld sent back to anchestor countries") during D Rally are wrong as all American R immigrant themself (Dont try to denial these reality)
A classic NRA/GOP deflection.
is values and education what really kills people
The same games are played world over but real life mass shootings happen only in the US. Sad
He's right. 'The same games are played world over" is a weak argument since they obviously aren't played with the same frequency and other countries simply have healthier cultures so the games don't have as much as an impact.
This article is not about people *****with knives or trucks. It's about mass shootings with military-style guns. And actually there are some counties where these kinds of games are played much more than in the US actually, but they don't have mass shootings. So what's the difference? You already said it. Guns are too easily accessible in the US. That's the biggest factor and the thing which most importantly needs to be changed. It's so obvious.
I'm going to be real with ya chief. this ain't it.
we need some who understands people as our president. This cheeto puff has made the U.S. worse
İ killed lots of people in video games. But in real life never. Guns should be forbidden in America.
One of the most important reasons we have the right to own guns is to be able to protect ourselves.. even from our own government if needed. Remember how we became a country. We had to protect ourselves from England and fight for our rights. Our very wise founders knew this first hand and wanted to be sure that even today we have that right. In the last few years, violent mass killers have not only used guns, they will rent a truck and mow down dozens. Should we outlaw cars and trucks?
That's a ridiculous argument, Caspian. The number of people intentionally killed by driving into a crowd is nothing compared to intentional deaths by guns. But since you made the comparison, no, we shouldn't ban cars However, you need to buy insurance and pass driving tests and obtain a licence to be allowed to get behind the wheel. And we don't allow civilians to drive battle tanks on the streets. So why not at least require this same level of control over gun ownership? It's one thing to own a pistol for "defense" but there is absolutely no reason any civilian needs to have high powered military assault weapons.
second amendment is pointless when the govt got nukes and we have an AR. Ban the guns, dont play in hands of NRA and save innocent ppl. . P.S. hunting guns are exception as they arent assult rifles with automatic firing
If it were the games then why dont countries like Japan have the same problems? If it were mental health, then surely there are countries less mentally healthy. Now...if I see some depressed Gamers commiting mass murders without a gun....Im waiting.
really
I am confused, are video game makers selling guns to the players? Just not sure I have seen the manifesto to Fortnite by a ******* They usually quote from Trump in their manifestos.
Probably a connection.. however these games are played around the world, but they seem then, only to affect Americans...? Stop the nonsence! Its the guns.. right I said it.. its the rediculous gunlaws, that exisist as the only place in the world.
It is not just the games and movies. Nor is it just the guns. It is many things. According to the  American Psychological Association's (APA), The link between violent video game exposure and aggressive behavior is one of the most studied and best established. . . https://www.apa.org/about/policy/violent-video-games. . I also play video games (some violent), but growing up as a child with them is different than an adult playing them. It is very easy for kids as young as 6 to use a cell phone and play violent games.
I thunk a thought.
It's pretty obvious that there is a connection between violent video games and violent behavior. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to see it... Movies also. The stuff that is rated PG now would have been rated R 20 years ago.
