The Official Liverpool Supporters Club of Egypt have responded by issuing an apology in response to the online trolling.

Jurgen Klopp’s side overcame Spurs 2-1 at Wembley thanks to goals from Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino.

But some Egyptian fans were enraged by Mane’s decisions to shoot rather than pass to team-mate Salah at various points of the game.

The Senegal star subsequently posted a victorious image on Instagram later that evening.

He was then bombarded with abusive messages from fans of Salah, prompting him to delete it later.

Khalid Yousif, vice-president of the Official Supporters Club in Egypt, spoke to the Liverpool Echo about the messages.

“They are horrible, horrible comments,” he said. “It’s disgraceful and it doesn’t represent our Egyptian fans.

“We and the supporters’ club in Egypt made an appreciation post for him.

“We sent him a lot of messages on his Facebook account and we made a post for him.

“The people were very supportive to him, it’s a great touch. We love you Sadio, we don’t care about the abuse.

“We are all behind you and You Will Never Walk Alone.

“Yes we love Mo, the Egyptian king. He is our superstar, our hero here in Egypt.

“But trust me, the LFC supporters here in Egypt don’t like Sadio any less than Mo. Some fans even love him more.

“As the official supporters’ club we thought it was our duty to do a nice gesture to him telling him how much we love him and adore him. We can’t imagine our team without him.”

Liverpool continued their winning streak with a 3-2 win over Paris St-Germain in a game that saw Salah have an off day.

Roberto Firmino grabbed a late winner after the former Roma winger was hauled off by Klopp.
