Controversial Lagos socialite and movie marketer, Seun Egbegbe, is reportedly living large behind bars.

The highly celebrated figure among Yoruba movie people, made news headlines in every medium after he allegedly stole some pieces of iPhone at the popular Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos.

Egbegbe, who had been romantically linked with a number of popular Yoruba movie actresses including Toyin Aimakhu, is presently cooling off behind the bars at Kirikiri Prisons after being arraigned at a Lagos court.

A source who spent time in the Prisons facility told P.M.EXPRESS on the condition of anonymity after his release from prison over an undisclosed offense that contrary to the widely held belief that life inside Kirikiri Prisons can be hellish, some inmates and those awaiting trials like Egbegbe lived classy lives in there.

He told our correspondent that aside not having the privilege of mixing with the larger society in their day-to-day activities, that some privileged inmates do not miss much as they were said to enjoy every other comfort available to the people outside prison and enjoy sound sleep at the VIP Units inside the facility.

He noted that in prisons, money is the key to many privileges as most of them like Egbegbe live more comfortably and enjoy celebrity status while in the prison.

According to him, Egbegbe is being pampered as he has flat screen TV and DVD player to himself and even allegedly have ladies sneaked into their wing in the prison to take care of his sexual urge.

“Seun lives big and in serious comfort. He, alongside some inmates, has the luxury of playing table tennis, snooker and other indoor games,” he said.

Egbegbe, the source maintained, has inmates among the prisoners at his beck and call in a special unit where he’s housed which comes at a price. These inmates handle his laundry and other chores necessary.

“He has some inmates who serve as his servants and attended to his needs. The guy eats whatever he wants and equally satisfies himself sexually as ladies were usually smuggled in at night to satisfy his sexual desire,” the source added.

He said that most of Egbegbe’s celebrity friends still visit him regularly and they pay to ameliorate his feelings of incarceration.

“It’s obvious many of his friends certainly missed Egbegbe within the Lagos social circles but they come around to spend time with him and ensure he made up with a luxury lifestyle behind Kirikiri bars,” the source said.

The source explained that while he would not want to reveal specifically those warders they paid to and how much, he said there were so many cooperating officers who ensured that those who can pay for those extra lavish lifestyles enjoyed their time while inside the facility.

According to him, while he was serving, he enjoyed sound sleep on a very good foam with all appurtenances of a king at his low level after he coughed out N2,500 daily, and he believed Egbegbe’s fee was higher.

It was gathered in the VIP section where inmates like Egbegbe who have the money stayed, they pay between N70,000 and N300,000 per month to live the luxury life.

Trouble started for Egbegbe in November 2016 when he was arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing nine pieces of iphone.

He pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of stealing, when he went to Computer Village and requested for the phones.

It was gathered that while the sales girl was trying to calculate the items requested for by Egbegbe, he allegedly ran out of the shop with the iPhones and tried to board a waiting vehicle.

The salesgirl allegedly raised the alarm which attracted other traders in the market.

Consequently, Egbegbe was allegedly caught and beaten to a pulp before the police intervened and rescued him.

The Presiding Magistrate, Aje Afunwa, granted him bail of N1 million and two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in Kirikiri pending when he would fulfill his bail conditions.

Barely two months after he was arrested and released, Egbegbe was arrested again after he allegedly attempted to defraud a Bureau De Change (BDC) operator of N10 million at the Gbagada area of Lagos.

The Ebony Films boss was said to have gone to the BDCs with his cronies intending to change some dollars into naira.

It was gathered that the Egbegbe told the BDC operators that he was a medical doctor at the Gbagada General Hospital, so they can come to his office afterwards and collect the dollar equivalent of N10 million.

The operator who was not convinced by his claim told him to identify himself, this he failed to do, thus compelling the operator to raise an alarm.

After they arrested him again, he was arraigned on a 36-count charge bordering on Advance fee fraud and has been remanded in Kirikiri with stringent bail conditions.
