I feel like we’re in the day and age where printing out and framing photos is a thing of the past. Technological advances have changed the way we interact with our own photos. Growing up in the 80s we didn’t have the luxury of having cell phones or digital cameras. I remember the days when I would get a disposable camera in my Christmas stocking. Or the times that I would get ONE disposable camera on vacation. Then I was told I had to be picky with what I took photos of because developing film was so expensive and time consuming. Could you imagine waiting days to see your photos only to realize they all came out bad? I remember the days when my dad would shoot photos of me on his Nikon with Kodachrome 100 35mm film. We consider that vintage these days!

The way we store photos has even changed. I used to love taking Polaroids or getting photos to hang all over my walls or put in frames back in the day. I would even spend my time making the cutest scrap books with some of my favorite memories. Now, you walk into my house and there are absolutely no photos on display anywhere. They are all on my phone, all 21,000 of them. Or they are on an external hard drive that hasn’t been viewed in years. How sad is that?? Oh, how the times have changed. I can’t remember the last time I actually printed and framed a photo. And I think that needs to change.

We no longer have to be picky with what types of photos we are taking. Technology has made us realize we can take as many photos as we want and just throw them all on social media. No need to be picky or worry about the financial aspect of taking a few photos. We have an unlimited photo taking machine right in the palm of our hands. I feel like we need to change this mindset in millennials. Actually, it’s practically everyone at this point! Social media is not the new picture frame or photo album.
