No points for qualifying today but plenty of warmed hearts seeing Gee Atherton at the top of the list. It was wet and tricky but the top 4 Elite Men were still only separated by .6 seconds. Tahnee Seagrave crushed the Elite Women, Kade Edwards steezed past his fellow groms and Vali Holl, well, she did was Vali Holl does, 30 seconds up on her closest competitor with her 3-minute run.

take this with a grain of salt, but the only unconfirmed reason i've heard was that if an overall could have been clinched via qualifying points, it would make the finals race (webcast) less exciting. was also told other sports do this. still seems weird to me.

Lot of fast folk will have to sit this one out. So if you qualify 60th, do you make it in the show if a protected rider didn't qualify or are you bumped from the big show?
