Jurgen Klinsmann believes that Inter have what it takes to compete with arch-rivals Juventus for the Serie A title this season.

“I think Inter have a pretty strong squad, they could win the title despite Juventus being there. Let’s hope it is the year of the Nerazzurri,” the German explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

“I really think that Inter can be the anti Juve all the way. The Bianconeri have a deeper squad, but you never know what can happen. I do not think there will be psychological repercussions after the San Siro defeat beacuse the season has only just begun.”

Klinsmann, who spent three years at Inter between 1989 and 1992, then sang the praises of current Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, who has seen a real increase in playing time this season.

“He is a very strong striker, he has a great future ahead of him. Now he has more space after Mauro Icardi’s departure from the club.”
