Samba TV, Gracenote Focus on Live Sports Video Tech

Samba TV and Gracenote have introduced a new video technology that will focus primarily on enhancing live sports viewership. With much of sports content consumption going online, platforms like Betway gaming on the go which allows fans to play and bet from wherever they are bound to get even handier.

Samba, a renowned TV data, and audience analytics provider, collaborates with top TV manufacturer Vestel Group, the manufacturers behind Panasonic, Toshiba, JVC, and Hitachi brands. They are working on a new technology known as Picture Perfect based purely on Artificial Intelligence (AI). Picture Perfect will be embedded within the screen to recognize and optimize the picture quality of screen content, whether there is an internet connection or not, using machine learning.

Announcing the new development, Samba said that the technology recognizes the type of content being displayed, and automatically allows for higher refresh rates when desired, and disables it when not necessary.

“Smart TV hardware today integrates truly amazing display technology and algorithms for picture quality enhancement. The promise of AI is to make our lives easier, and within the living room, we believe AI should remove the manual steps of setting up your television for the best viewing experience of sports and all of the latest movies and video games.” Said Ashwin Navin, the CEO and co-founder of Samba TV. “We are excited about the collaboration with Vestel, a company that develops world-class TVs, to join us in this endeavor.”

Nielsen-owned Gracenote said it would be offering up its collected sports data to electronic manufacturers to enable them to integrate real-time team stats, live updates, and recent game results to auto infotainment systems and television and video home screens. This information is useful for Betway betting as punters use live updates to make wagers.

Gracenote also mentioned that notifications could be generated to navigate seamlessly to stream services, or event broadcast. The technology will be applicable on all preferred services, whether following from home or driving. Car manufacturers will embed readable live scores and other valuable data on infotainment screens to allow drivers to follow matches on the road while at the same time keeping safe.

Once it has been launched, major sports like football, basketball, hockey, baseball, and other top disciplines will be covered under the Gracenote Sports Widgets. It will also cover popular international tournaments and leagues like the English Premier League, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga, Major League Soccer in the USA, Spanish La Liga, French Ligue 1, and top football leagues in South America.

Sports fans across the globe will benefit immensely from the new development that comes when the world is reeling from the effects of Covid-19. Sports viewership has remained mostly on TV after most sporting events continue to take place in empty stadiums.
