Former Inter midfielder Andy Van der Meyde has warned current Inter striker Romelu Lukaku about the Italian media.

The Dutchman spent two years at Inter and his off-field problems, particularly with alcohol, were well documented in the media during his time with the club, in which he made 32 appearances across all competitions.

“In Italy the media are aware of a lot of gossip. If you hear something, the newspapers already seem to know it. Gazzetta dello Sport is a big newspaper who gets a lot of news from everyone, so he has to be very careful,” he said in an interview with Eleven Sports.

He continued: “He also has to pay attention to the paparazzi, especially on nights he goes out. I often found myself in front of the flashes of their cameras.”

Lukaku joined Inter in a club record deal during the Summer and has went on to score three goals in eight appearances for the club.
