Why the hell am I using a mech?

Ive switched back to my battered smok 220w regulated mod, heres why:

I can run much lower ohm builds. My mech has some stupid issue where I can only run it in series mode because the parts just cause it to either have battery rattle (if i remove the pin extension screw) or just straght up misfire if I run it in single battery mode with the pin extension screw.

Regulated mods don't misfire and have safety features

The most noteable reason, I can change wattage on my vape, so if i fancy a cool vape I can run lower watts or If I want some dense warm fat clouds I can increase the wattage, basically I can adjust wattage to find my sweet spot.

The only reason I can see for using a mech is to get the absolute maximum power draw from your battery but what is the point in this if youre not building stupidly low which will produce a hot, spitting and unpleasant vape anyway?

My stacked mech is also pretty big and bulky where as my reg box just fits in my back pocket and I dont have to worry about it misfiring or blowing up.

Im not trying to bash mech users, I've used a mech for about 2 weeks and tried probably around 10 different builds on them, but what is your personal reason for using a mech over a regulated mod?

When my kennedy 25mm atty arrives ill build in that on my mech for use at home where I can control it more safely and likely use my smok 220w reg mod with my drop dead RDA when Im out and about.

It sounds like your mech isn't the best in single tube mode, but I can't help there as I've never used a stacked tube.

I use single tube mechs. Not for maximum power draw. Not for low builds - I build at 0.5 ohms single coil and 0.25 ohms dual, using Ni80 flatwire.

I use it for

1: Form factor. I like a tube style, and tubes with boards are always bigger and few and far between. A nice compact tube with an RDA on top is pure and simple.

2: Simplicity. There is little that can go wrong with a mech, as there is no board. It is just an electrical circuit. I don't have to worry about my screen dying, or the board dying. Any issues can be easily seen and fixed.

In a way it's funny that you came to that conclusion after trying to convince yourself and everyone else that your insanely long coils (as in many wraps) are any good and you had to have a stacked tube for that, because clouds bro and all. :)
Sorry, that's just me being sarcastic. We keep learning every day, and I sure have made some pretty stupid mistakes too, just not quite as publicly :D

I have had mechs for about two-three weeks now. Nothing fancy. Just a good trusty Gus 22mm single 18650/18350 tube with a fuse (yeah, seriously, playing it safe for my first mech) and a Furyan squonker. As an MTL guy, I love the form factor of the 18350 tube. With a rta or rdta on top it disappears in your hand. Plus, it looks a lot less offensive to my eyes than any off-the-shelf box mod. (Try convincing a smoker that vaping is the way to go while lifting a heavy battery pack to your mouth and sucking on it :D)

For the squonker, same reason. Plus, the Furyan takes a 21700 and has a 9ml bottle. With MTL that gets me through a day of chain vaping - without being huge :)

But I guess the main reason for getting those two was to broaden my horizon and add something new to my collection and experience... I guess you can relate to that part. :P

Ultimately it's not a question of either regulated or mech for me. I have two mech and two regulated devices sitting on my desk right now...
Just as some DL guys do MTL sometimes, and some MTL guys do DL sometimes, there's no rule that you have to use either mech or regulated. Whatever works for you is the way to go.

As mentioned, it's not all about the clouds bro in using a mech....form factor, a sensible build, simplicity to mention a few.
Plenty folks on here use a mech at plus Ohms...cos that's how they roll...different strokes for different folks.

I think quite a few people have been asking that same question since you started posting a while ago. Maybe it’s good that you’ve come to the same conclusion.

Another purchase consigned to the vape drawer of shame... who knows it may re-emerge at some point in the future, my squonker did eventually.

Well like already said about mechs, i've never had one let me down and when i hit the fire button i'm getting exactly what im expecting as its my prefered style of vaping, i would never use a stackable tube mech as i prefer a single cell tube mech, so if anyone doesn't like their mech give me a shout i just might be interested [emoji16]
