Robbers Attack Zenith Bank, Cart Away Property

A branch of Zenith Bank PLC in Lagos was attacked by some daredevil armed robbers who vandalized the bank property and escaped.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 23rd July, 2018, at the bank branch located at Palm Avenue in Mushin area of Lagos.
It was gathered that the armed robbers stormed the bank late in the evening when the staff had gone home and attempted to gain access through the roof to no avail because of the security measures put in place.
However, they were able to steal the available properties in the bank. They went ahead to vandalise the thunder arrestor mounted at the bank building and escaped.
It was not certain if the security men attached to the bank were not around as it was said that the robbers spent several hours during the operation and there was no resistance from any security operatives while it lasted.
The robbery was reported to the police at Olosun Division who went into action and succeeded in arresting one of the suspects while other were said to be at large.
The suspect, Mr. Joseph James, 26, was later charged before the Ogba Magistrates court for conspiracy and stealing.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akadu Edet, did not oppose his being granted bail. Thus the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. K.O. Ogundare, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.
The matter was adjourned till 9th August, 2018.
When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent visited Zenith Bank to get the real situation, none of the staff was willing to speak on the matter. Some even said that they were not aware of the robbery.
However, the residents confirmed the incident and explained that it appeared that the robbers did not gain access into the bank to steal money.
