Uncapped Indian start Varun Chakravarthy and Shivam Dube became one of the top buys in IPL auction 2019. While Chakravarthy, who is a mystery spinner from Tamil Nadu, went to KXIP for 8.4 criore. Dube, the all-rounder from Mumbai, was purchased by Royal Challengers Bangalore for an amount of Rs 5 crore.

Chakravarthy’s rise in the Indian domestic cricket has been meteoric. The mystery spinner was always expected to spark a bidding war for his services following impressive performances in the TNPL and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. IN TNPL, he recorded an unbelievable economy rate of 4.7 from 10 T20 matches. He has already taken 22 wickets Tamil Nadu in limited-overs cricket in nine matches. Varun was laying as a pacer before a knee injury halted his progress. However, it proved to be a blessing in disguise as during his break time, he started bowling spin. He has got opportunities to bowl in the CSK nets and even to KKR players.

Shivam Dube came made his name with some big hitting in the Mumbai T20 league. He has also performed consistently in in the ongoing domestic season. Dube came to limelight after Sunil Gavaskar picked him out for special praise in his column. Gavaskar termed Dube the cleanest hitting left-hander in India since Yuvraj Singh. Dube is a hard-hitting medium pace all-rounder. In his debut season for Mumbai in 2017, Dube had scored 454 runs and bagged 21 wickets, including two tons and two five-wicket hauls. This year so far he has added 377 runs and taken 16 wickets.
