Roundup: Garrett's big night carries Canterbury, Wilson's heroics lift Fort Myers

Canterbury 61, Fort Myers 51: Chase Garrett scored 20 of his game-high 30 points in the second half to carry the Cougars (2-0) to an impressive early-season road victory.

Garrett knocked in four 3-pointers in the second half, including a four-point play that gave the Cougars a 54-42 lead midway through the fourth quarter. Jovan Kojic had 13 points and Alan Cedeno added 10 for Canterbury.

Kyle Riemenschneider led Fort Myers with 17 points and Javian McCollum added 11 for the Green Wave (1-1).

Evangelical Christian 87, Mariner 54: Aaron Jones scored 22 points to pace the Sentinels (2-0). Sean Shore added 15 points, eight assists and seven rebounds and Dylan McDaniel scored 13 points for ECS.

Riverdale 75, North Fort Myers 30: CJ Cooper led the way for the Raiders (2-1) with 23 points. Tyrone Baker finished the game with 20 points, seven rebounds and seven steals for Riverdale.

Bishop Verot 78, East Lee 33: Denzel Redd led the Vikings (2-0) with 23 points and 13 rebounds on the night. Israel Torres scored 18 points and Lucas Tejera added 10 for Bishop Verot.

Caleb Munnings led the Jaguars with 18 points and Dayron Delgado added 14 for East Lee.

Ida Baker 79, Cape Coral 67: Brayan Aguirre scored a game-high 27 points to pace the Bulldogs (1-0) in their season-opening win. Andrew Wells had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds for Ida Baker.

Jamie O’Connor led Cape Coral with 19 points and Tyler Williams added 16 points for the Seahawks.

Mariner 8, DeSoto County 0: Leo Perez scored five goals and became the program’s all-time record holder for goals in a career with 103 to lead the Tritons (6-0). Sean Paul Negron, Eddie Reyes and Esteban Orjuela all added a goal each for Mariner.

Canterbury 10, St. Stephen’s 0: Patrick Horan scored seven goals, putting him over 100 in his Canterbury career as the Cougars (5-0) rolled to victory. McLaren Baggett scored two goals, Bryan Cruz added a goal and an assists and Ethan Wiese had two assists for Canterbury.

Cape Coral 7, Dunbar 0: Juan Parra scored four goals to lead the way for the Seahawks (6-1-1). Kilian Fernandez, Lucas Rosales and Diego Guatarsama added a goal each and Dylan Linares made four saves in goal for Cape Coral.

Estero 3, South Fort Myers 1: Mario Sefa, Orestes Muniz and Alex Mendes all hit the scoresheet in the victory for the Wildcats (4-2).

Alejandro Paula picked up the lone goal on the night for the Wolfpack (3-1-1).

Girls Soccer

Fort Myers 1, Bishop Verot 0: Alyssa Wilson netted the match-winner in stoppage time, depositing a left-footed strike on the run to win it for the Green Wave (1-2-1).

Estero 7, South Fort Myers 0: Mackenzie Gorski scored five goals to lead the charge for the Wildcats (4-0-1). Naysie Tianga and Isabella Gyurich added a goal each and Maddie Mancini tallied two assists for Estero.
