At a press conference in Moscow, FIFA President Gianni Infantino labelled the 2018 World Cup as the best tournament in history, where the competition passed without incidents and the host country Russia, certainly delivered a positive experience for those who traveled.

Thanking everyone involved in the organisation, the players, referees, coaches, the people of Russia and President Putin, he said Russia has now become a footballing country. He also felt that considering that the legacy left by previous world cup competitions has been major criticisms in terms of infrastructure, this year’s tournament can only be about the positives left behind.

“The legacy of this tournament is that it will put Russia at the top of the countries in footballing terms, and what has been done is for the future, as we are committed to ensuring that the stadiums will continue to be used”, he admitted.
