The first turbocharged RX-7 that we received in North America was a second-generation (FC) version called the Turbo II. Ever wondered what happened to the first one? The Savanna RX-7 Turbo was the very first turbocharged RX-7 ever made, and this particular one features custom tuning from R.E. Amemiya, the premiere rotary tuner in the world. If you’ve ever lusted after a turbocharged RX-7, this is the genesis.

In 2014, Flavien Vidal had recently moved to Japan and was looking for a car. Having figured out there’s money to be made in buying video games from shops across Japan and selling them overseas, his unique business would have him driving all over the country, week after week. He needed a car that could fit plenty of cargo and also be reliable day after day, but his travels would also take him up and down switchbacks, and across mountainous touge roads that would make Mulholland Drive look like a four-lane freeway. So, he settled on a then-29-year-old, fuel-injected, and turbocharged rotary sports car as his one and only mode of transportation in a foreign land, to use for work.

We like his style. Check out the full story here: https://wp.me/p3LQCT-1A2d
