LINCOLN COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A routine traffic stop for a minor violation led to the seizure of illegal drugs and the arrest of a man in Lincoln County Saturday.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, 34-year-old Sean Ryder Kenna, of Swannanoa, NC, was charged with one felony count of possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance and failing to maintain lane control.

A deputy was parked in a patrol car near Exit 20 of U.S. Highway 321 Saturday watching traffic when a sedan driver turned away as he passed the patrol car.

The deputy pulled out behind the car because he was unable to tell if Kenna was wearing a seat belt.

Officials said Kenna drifted over the fog line for about 300 feet before the officer stopped the vehicle with two occupants, Kenna and a female passenger.

While checking the driver's license and registration, the deputy smelled marijuana coming from the car.

The deputy searched the vehicle and located a cooler in the trunk containing 81 clear plastic packages containing opaque waxy mass and 60 packages of edible baked goods.

Officials say the deputy recognized the opaque waxy mass as marijuana extract and the edible baked goods as marijuana-laced chocolate bars and brownies.

The items will be sent to the North Carolina SBI lab for further analysis.

The female passenger was not charged.

Kenna was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond and will have a first appearance in Lincoln County District Court on Monday.
