Olivier Giroud has admitted he has been left embarrassed by his own performances at the World Cup, but is confident he can get his first goal of the tournament against Croatia.

The Chelsea striker has been guilty of missing some excellent chance’s leading Frances attack and will continue upfront for his country in the final on Sunday.

France are 90 minutes away from just their second ever World Cup, and Giroud is aiming to break his duck in the biggest game of the tournament.

Giroud is selected ahead of some talented team-mates because of his hold-up play, but the striker is confident he will get in on the goalscoring part against Croatia.

‘Each time, there isn’t much missing for me to score. Either I’m embarrassed at the last moment, or the defender covers well,’ he said.

‘It is true that I would have liked to help the team more against Belgium in the semi-final. But it was not to be the case.
