Cleveland family shares culture through food at Seafood Music Festival

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Families in Cleveland came together Saturday not only to share a few delicious dishes, but also a piece of their culture.

The Seafood Music Festival took place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Cleveland Greenway. The festival, which is in its second year, offers chances for vendors to make a name for themselves.

Cathy Alston, who is a veteran from Guadeloupe, says her business called "Gwada Bokits et Eatery" offers different types of fish and shrimp served on fried bread.

Alston says this has been a lifelong dream since she was a kid. She says it began with her family.

"It starts with home and your family," Alston says. "My mom is from Guadeloupe, and my dad is from Dominica, so it's all in the Caribbean-based cooking."
