Young man dies one day after sharing a photo to celebrate surviving collapsing suddenly

Young man dies one day after sharing a photo to celebrate surviving collapsing suddenly

A young Nigerian man who shared a selfie to celebrate his survival has died just one day after.

Elemuwa Obinna was out walking with friends when he informed them he wasn't feeling well. As they continued walking, Obinna collapsed and efforts to revive him proved abortive at first. People gathered, prayed, and did everything they could and after a while, he opened his eyes and began responding to the prayers. He was then rushed to the hospital where he felt much better and even took a selfie to celebrate his survival.

His friend Ezekiel Stmark, who was out walking with Obinna when he collapsed, took to Facebook to share the good news and narrated how it happened. He also thanked God for saving his friend's life and revealed that he's doing much better.

One day later, Ezekiel returned to Facebook to reveal that his friend Obinna is dead. He reportedly died yesterday afternoon. Ezekiel went to visit Obinna to find out how he was doing and was told he passed on at noon.

Friends have taken to Facebook to express shock at the sudden demise of Obinna and mourn him.

Well, this is a classic case of murdered-by-the-doctor. He must have had a heart condition that caused him to pass out the day before. Did anyone check his heart? No. I am sure they gave drip Charged 100K and released the poor boy as a walking corpse

What kind of ER did they take him to that could not run tests to find out what was wrong with him? This is a pure case of a heart condition that they failed to detect due to carelessness and negligence. May his soul RIP.

Not everything is worth making public. He survived an attack and d next place to announce it is facebook. U are only telling d winches to try harder and which they did. Some Thanksgiving are better done secretly. RIP Obinna.

A young man that collapses is a red flag. In sane environments, he would have had all tests under the sun to identify the cause before being discharged. I bet the hospital did not do ordinary ecg. Don't worry, keep on PUSHing. Shior!!

Everything must not be on SM. You miraculously survived a near death experience and all you cld do was to rush and post on fb instead of thanking God in secret for a second chance at life. Learn to live ur life wisely and away from preying eyes. It's well. Rip Obinna. God console you all

That wasn´t an easy experience. May God rest his young soul, Oh dear. And thank you Ezekiel for standing by him. You know when I was in the university, I had a runny stomach one night. I later woke up in the middle of the night to run ease myself in the toilet and asked a school mate friend of mine (that passed the night in my room that day) to accompany me to the toilet area because it´s real deep into the night. On my way rushing to empty my runny stomach, I had this excruciating stomach pain that knocked me out and I passed out there on the floor. Do you know that the freaking girl abandoned me there and ran away for sometime before I recovered and got up? I forgave her though because she came from the kind of family with strange rigid religious beliefs where any little thing is attributed to evil spirits and the likes. Thank goodness that she is not all that a friend though as she proved herself to be. You did well in standing by him when he fell.

When a person (especially young) collapses for no know reason, there is almost 100% certainty of an underlying medical condition. It would usually be a problem of the heart, brain or both. Some cases could also be from problems in the blood like electrolyte imbalance, low blood sugar, toxin/infection/poison, etc. The very least would be getting to the hospital ASAP and get investigated, at least an ECG/Holter, since heart problems can hide till they become deadly. The hospital may have hurriedly discharged him when everyone must have given a history of an evil attack been handled by prayers. I have worked in such settings before as a young medical doctor, and it saddens me that such cases may still be happening right now. Many of our hospitals are under equipped to carry out comprehensive investigations for background health problems. Most cases are tagged malaria and typhoid in poor resource settings, and suboptimal treatment is what results. RIP to the young promising lad, the society obviously failed him due to a constellation of issues.
