The Federal Controller, Works, Lagos, Mr Adedamola Kuti on Sunday appealed to motorists to use alternative routes as repair works begin around Apongbon bridge, Lagos Island.

The development is expected to cause serious gridlock with the axis.

Kuti told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the descent from Apongbon Bridge in Lagos was damaged due to pilling works on the ongoing light rail project.

“The repair works are not on the bridge but as you descend the bridge at Apongbon heading toward Outer Marina and Victoria Island.

“Major works have been completed but repair works continue tomorrow up till about Wednesday.

“We are appealing to road users to be patient as there will be traffic diversion that may cause some little discomfort,” the controller said.

According to him, the road is actually not closed but the repair works may slow down traffic.

“Motorists in a hurry to get to their destinations may use alternative routes,” Kuti said.
