SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WIFR) - The Illinois Automatic Voting Registration Law is set to take effect on July 1, making registering to vote much easier.

The new law will make voter registration more readily accessible and will also help maintain the accuracy and integrity of voter rolls. Those eligible to vote will be able to do so when obtaining or renewing their driver's license or state-issued ID.

Those who have an ID but do not wish to be registered to vote can simply opt out.

According to Matt Dietrich, the Public Information Officer at the Illinois State Board of Elections, voters won't notice a difference while voting when July 1 rolls around.
