2019 Bills opponents: Eagles hint at higher workload for Jordan Howard

Lets’ be fair, the Dolphins are still an NFL team with professional players. Don’t overlook them coming out of the bye next weekend.

But the following week sees the Bills facing the Eagles and there could be a key update to monitor from Philadelphia.

Over the past two weeks, running back Jordan Howard has started to emerge. Howard’s last two games saw him rush for 149 yards and three scores, combined. He has minimal success before then.

But earlier this week, Philadelphia head coach Doug Pederson admitted he’s intrigued by the idea of giving Howard more carries in the coming weeks. That’s something worth noting since the Bills are approaching.

“I’m tempted that way,” Pederson told Sports Radio 94WIP in Philly. “I think that’s something that after these last couple of games, watching him, he’s definitely a great addition to our team.”

Pederson also added he likes what he’s seeing from rookie rusher Miles Sanders. Thus far this season, Howard and Sanders are splitting things.

But Pederson doubled down, too.

“But yeah, you talk about the run game, you’d love to be able to give Jordan the bulk of the carries and then mix Miles in as we go,” Pederson said.

From the sounds of it, the Bills will be prepping for the more bruising back in Howard, but don’t forget about Sanders, either. He’s a weapon in the pass game.
