The Amorettes & Tequila Mockingbyrd merge to become each other
After both bands experienced major line-up changes in recent months, the remaining members of The Amorettes & Tequila Mockingbyrd have joined forces for their respective upcoming tour dates.
Back in December, Tequila Mockingbyrd were the first band to lose a member when singer and guitarist Louisa Baker parted company with bassist Jacinta Jaye and drummer Josie O’Toole.
Then late last month, Amorettes vocalist/guitarist Gill Montgomery was left as the sole member of the Scottish rockers when bassist Heather McKay and her drummer sister Hannah left.
To honour both band’s upcoming touring commitments, Jacinta, Josie and Gill have now merged into one band to essentially become each other. They’ve also been joined by guitarist Laurie Buchanan of Aaron Buchanan and the Cult Classics fame to complete the line-up.
Gill Montgomery says: “I am very excited to have Josie, Jacinta and Laurie join The Amorettes for the shows we have coming up. We intend to have a lot of fun this summer, and who knows what the future will hold for us all! Watch this space!”
Tequila Mockingbyrd’s Josie O’Toole adds: "We are so pumped for what lies ahead. The Amorettes were one of the bands we admired from afar back in Australia before the Tbyrds had even landed in the UK so to join forces with Gill is something else.
“And to have the incredible Laurie Buchanan on board too means a double whammy of guitar goodness! We really can't wait to get out there and make some noise.”
