WWE Backlash 2018 match card, rumors

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Backlash show set to take place on Sun., May 6, 2018, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. This will be the first of the co-branded events the company will run each month going forward.

We're now just one week out from showtime and this is how the card looks right now:

  • Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe

Now that Reigns has lost his latest bid to become Universal champion, this is simply a Raw wrestler against a SmackDown wrestler, booked before this year’s Superstar Shakeup.

  • AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (WWE championship)

They went to a double count out at Greatest Royal Rumble, setting up the third match in the series.

  • Seth Rollins vs. The Miz (Intercontinental championship)

Although he was moved over to SmackDown in the Superstar Shakeup, Miz is still getting his rematch for the Intercontinental title.

  • Carmella vs. Charlotte Flair (SmackDown women’s championship)

Charlotte gets a rematch for the title she lost when Carmella cashed in her Money in the Bank contract.

  • Nia Jax vs. Alexa Bliss (Raw women’s championship)

Bliss gets a rematch for the title she lost at WrestleMania 34.

  • Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass

When Cass showed up on SmackDown Live as part of the Superstar Shakeup, he immediately targeted Bryan.

That’s just six matches, with the U.S., Raw & SmackDown tag team titles, and the Cruiserweight championship all without a spot on the card right now. Expect that to change on television this week.
