CELEBRITY Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has delivered a withering assessment of Granit Xhaka.

Morgan trashed the Switzerland international midfielder after a disappointing performance in the 1-0 north London derby defeat at Tottenham.

Xhaka struggled to impose his authority in the engine room before Arsene Wenger rolled the dice by replacing him in the dying stages for forward Danny Welbeck.  

Writing on Twitter, Morgan fumed: “Xhaka must be the biggest waste of £35m in football history.” 

Xhaka joined from Borussia Monchengladbach on a five-year deal in the summer of 2016. 

The 25-year-old made 46 appearances in all competitions in his debut campaign but his performances divided the club’s fanbase.

Arsenal could have nicked a point but Alexandre Lacazette fluffed a chance at the death after finding himself free in the box. 

The defeat leaves Arsenal sixth in the Premier League table but are six points behind fourth-placed , who have a game in hand.

The Gunners could find themselves eight points off the Champions League pace by Monday night.
