The Workings of the Mind

Commonly used as a sleep remedy for insomnia, valerian has many benefits, as shown in a number of studies, including an improvement in deep sleep, speed of falling asleep, and quality of sleep without next-day sedation. The benefits were most pronounced when people used valerian for extended periods of time, as opposed to simply taking it for one night. Take 200 to 800 milligrams of the extract at bedtime. Clinical experience shows that, for around 5 percent of people, valerian is energizing and may keep them awake. If this happens to you, you can use valerian during the day instead of at night, as valerian does have a calming effect and can be used for daytime anxiety. Regardless of which thoughts people overthink, they get nothing out of it as acts have been absent from overthinking the process, and that can be a result of long term depression. When a person's brain overwhelms, he cannot afford thoughts. All the pessimistic feelings start flowing without a couple of seconds pause because it will be too frustrating that all those emotions are the ones he has got from the people he has ever seen in his experiences. People start feeling depressed when they feel out of control, and they are expecting bad things. Stress and Anxiety There are so much tension and fear in everyone's life. Any individuals have an anxiety condition. They feel worried about many things and get anxious. They sometimes think over little issues as well. Some people might have anxiety attacks. Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is a progressive form of dementia in which individuals may have visual hallucinations, symptoms similar to Parkinson disease, cognitive problems, sleep problems, depression, and apathy. In other words, a cluster of cognitive, behavioral, and emotional challenges. Lewy body diseases encompass three diseases: Parkinson disease, Parkinson disease dementia, and DLB. One can have Parkinson's and not get dementia, or one can have Parkinson's and then get dementia later on in the disease process. People with DLB often have some Parkinsonian symptoms, although they lack full-blown Parkinson's.

DLB is often harder than Alzheimer's or vascular dementia for caregivers to cope with for two reasons: people with DLB tend to hallucinate, and they have what is called fluctuating impairment. Hallucinations are different from delusions, which are fixed false ideas. Hallucinations are when a person is seeing or hearing something that is not there. Fluctuating impairment refers to a disease process in which a person's impairment changes throughout the week. Some days, people with DLB are very with it, while other days, they are very confused and disoriented. This second-guessing created a paralysis in stepping forward and showing up for her clients. She lost her desire to serve, as she was consumed with fear of not being good enough after all. Jenna was questioning her expertise as she experienced her pain, angst, and sense of powerlessness. She lost her discerning insight and feared she was delusional. She was drowning in despair and disbelief. She had to be a fraud. Jenna was facing the same work we all need to do. It's the work our clients come to us in seeking to be whole again. She needed to attend to the healing within the healer. As Jenna redirected her energies onto her unfinished business, her path of recovery began. To keep it simple, all six of these herbs can be found in combination in the Revitalizing Sleep Formula. The dose is two to four capsules at bedtime if you just need them to help you stay asleep, or one to two hours before bedtime to also help you fall asleep. This formula can also be used during the day for anxiety and pain. Essential Oils for Sleep There is an excellent new mix of essential oils that works well with the Revitalizing Sleep Formula.

It contains a combination of Ravensara (Ravensara aromatica), lemon balm (Melissa officinalis), lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), and mandarin (Citrus reticulata). You can find this combination in a product called Terrific Zzzz by Terry Naturally. Essential oils add a whole new dimension to natural therapies. When it comes to sleep, these have the benefits of decreasing brain fog and pain, while improving energy and immune function. Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis) An anxiety seizure is a sudden sense of intense fear. Normal anxiety does not interact with day-to-day routines. But when it is constant, unavoidable, and interferes with living, anxiety starts overwhelming. Although everyone sometimes overthinks such circumstances, extreme over-thinkers waste much of their waking hours ruminating, placing strain on themselves. They convert their stress into overthinking. Stress is triggered in many situations by your emotions, interactions, and all that occurs in you by specific individuals or outside circumstances. When you concentrate on ruminating constantly, you create it a routine. It is a cycle, so the more you do it, the tighter it becomes to avoid it. Overthinking is harmful and exhausting physically. It can place your fitness and overall safety at risk easily. It can be challenging to predict which days will be harder than others and therefore difficult for many caregivers to cope with (Budson & Kowall, 2014). FRONTOTEMPORAL LOBAR DEMENTIA The final form of dementia that we review in any detail is frontotemporal lobar dementia (FTD). FTD tends to affect people who are younger, typically between the ages of 45 and 65. It can occur in older adults, as well, although the fact that more of those affected are younger often makes it more challenging for families to deal with.

People with FTD may display a lot of behavioral problems that also make the disease very difficult. The disease affects the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain, which are the filter, planning, and decision-making parts, or executive functions, of the brain. People with FTD tend to be very impulsive, lack the ability to plan or make healthy choices, and often lack a filter, so they will say and do awkward or socially inappropriate things. People with FTD may do or say sexually inappropriate things as well, which makes it uncomfortable for family members who are taking care of them. Adults with FTD often do not live successfully in care community settings: they are often much younger, more mobile, and more disinhibited than other residents in the community (Mace & Rabins, 2017). Although she felt crushed and heartbroken, her healing path was the passage to heightened senses and improved insight in refining her healing attributes. Jenna's personal upheaval was the doorway to the purpose she was now ready to take on. We might say it was an acid test of self-reflection and of her self-care and desire to build a congruency with her life path and life practice. Recognizing the call to heal is the first step - the desire may be the second one - yet the most imperative step is to do your work so that you undoubtedly know what you know you know: You are the healer you are called to be. The happy ending is that Jenna and I did her work. Jenna joined with her shadow and true self to reconnect with her purpose, as she did her own healing in mind, body, and spirit. If you are like Jenna, and her story speaks to you, then this is written for you! The thing you want most in life tends to be harder, take longer, and cost more money than you thought. What does this message have to do with the question, Can I do this? Everything. A lemon-scented herb, lemon balm is both an effective calming agent and mild sedative. It is synergistic to take the essential oil along with the whole herb in the Revitalizing Sleep Formula. Recent research suggests that it optimizes function of the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in the brain, which helps our nervous system calm down. These receptors also have the benefit of decreasing pain. Another benefit?

In a placebo-controlled study done in England, lemon balm significantly improved both cognitive function and calmness. Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) Long recognized in France for improving people's sense of well-being, lavender flowers were commonly placed in pillows to help promote sleep. Even the smell of lavender is calming. Research suggests that lavender oil is sedating, relieving anxiety and improving deep sleep. Rumination allows you more vulnerable to fear and depression. It's a mental habit that could break you as an overactive mind can make life wretched. Stressful Events and Embarrassing Moment Past events that could be embarrassing in our lives can have a significant impact on our mood and how we feel about ourselves. Conditions of overthinking may arise from one or more traumatic life experiences. Specific events that affect are, job pressures or work changes, life conditions adjustments, pregnancy duration, and childbirth, household and family problems, significant cognitive distress during a painful or unpleasant experience, assault or mental, psychological, financial, or emotional abuse and death or absence of one of those you love. Stressful events have been associated with higher exposure to anxiety. Some kinds of traumatic events, specifically serious incidents, and household conflict events were preferentially predictors of increased sensitivity to overthinking. Exposure to overthinking has established the clinical association between traumatic life experiences and sleep problems. Insecurities and Fears DOES IT MATTER WHAT FORM OF DEMENTIA IT IS? Often, I am asked, Is it important to know what form of dementia my loved one has? I usually tell people that, yes, it is important to know what type of dementia a loved one has. You want to know what to expect and when you should seek medical treatment for someone. For example, if your mother has Alzheimer disease and is hallucinating, you will want to get her checked for a urinary tract infection, which is the most common cause of delirium (a sudden onset of confusion).
