Do you know what the weather is supposed to be like later this week for your kid’s soccer game? How about that picnic you have planned for Saturday? Should you start thinking about an indoor venue instead?
Weather can play a huge role in the activities you’re able to do outside, as well as what you wear while you do them. There are a gazillion apps and services out there to help you predict what the weather might be for the day or week, but this week I came across a new one that lets you know in a really useful way: on your calendar.
Originally spotted by TechCrunch, Weather Up is an iPhone weather app that offers your traditional run-of-the-mill 10-day weather forecast as well as live weather maps and an hourly forecast of what you can expect during the day. It also takes things a step further by tieing that information to your calendar events.
That means you can see at a glance that it’s probably going to rain for three of the four days of your camping trip, or that you might want to figure out where everyone’s winter coats are before you head to fam’s for Thanksgiving.
The feature itself can be customized, so you don’t have to use it with all of your calendars or all of your events, just the ones like that soccer game that you need to stay informed about.
It’s not going to change the weather, but can help you stay a little bit more informed about how the weather is going to impact you.
