Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has met with Nabil Fekir to discuss a summer switch to Anfield, according to reports in France.

Fekir has scored 55 goals in 148 appearances since breaking into Lyon’s first-team in 2013 but the 24-year-old forward is expected to complete a move to the Premier League at the end of the season.

While some reports suggest that Liverpool have already wrapped up a £62million agreement for Fekir, others claim that Chelsea are still in the race for the France international.

According to French outlet Canal Plus, Klopp has already spoken to Fekir in person to convince him to snub Chelsea and choose Liverpool in the summer.

It’s understood Liverpool are pushing to sign the Frenchman on a five-year deal, with his brother, Yassin, set to join up with the Reds’ Under-23 squad.

However, speaking after Lyon’s defeat of Troyes, Fekir said: ‘There’s nothing for the moment. I’m still at Lyon.

‘There are two matches left. We’ll prepare for them in the best possible way. At the end of the season, we’ll see, but for the moment, there’s nothing.’

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has stressed that the club are intent on keeping Fekir.

‘We have had no contact with Liverpool today,’ he said on Sunday.

‘Nabil Fekir is here. We hope to keep him and have him playing the Champions League with us next year.’
