Police Officers Prevent Peace Corps Members From Entering Their Office In Abuja | Photos

The joy of members of the Nigerian Peace Corps was cut short yesterday in Abuja when they gained access to their headquarters as over five hundred well armed police officers were deployed to ‘trample’ on the Corps personnel and other civil society groups that went to identify with the PCN.

According to a report by Andyson Iji Egbodo, the Nigeria Peace Corps national headquarters has been under lock and key for over a year now by the police.

All judicial pronouncements issued by courts of competent jurisdiction to the police to unseal the Corps headquarters fell on deaf ears.

Personnel of the Corps led by their indefatigable National Commandant, Dr Dickson Akoh walked into the edifice to reclaim their head office today in Abuja and in company of many members of several civil society groups including Mr Charles Oputa AKA Charley Boy.

Few hours after, the Inspector General of Nigerian Police allegedly acting on orders from above, deployed his well armed men to the Corps headquarters. Unconfirmed reports have it that several Peace Corps officers and civil society group members were heavily brutalized.

peace Corp of Nigeria so many officers of them have collected money from the Junior one’s.

  11. IG Idris is not acting on his own, it is an order from BUHARI. Nigerian youths should know by now that the APC does not have a plan for them. Let every youths get their PVC to judge their poor performance in 2019. To be sincere with ourselves, this is not democracy again. We made a mistake for voting BUHARI as the president.

  12. @Mr. Anthony Jos, I am not disputing your point but this is a democratic era, where are the youths who paid to them? Have they complained for collecting money from them? If yes, let them go to court but nobody comes out to sue them. CIVIL DEFENCE also collected money from members before it was given a legal backing. If they don’t subscribe, how would they finance the training, renting of offices, uniforms and other necessary things. Even in Churches, Mosques and other religious bodies, their members pay for the organizations to stay and move forward. So, they (the Junior officers) are not forced to pay.

  13. Peace Corps has come to stay in Nigeria either they like it or not. Please Mr President, approve and sign Peace Corps Bill and your name and APC will be written in gold.

  17. Mr. President will soon change His mind on Peace Corps Bill, Oga just want to see the youth reaction, he will add additional tax to the Peace Corps, watch out

  18. IG follows orders from above instead of following court orders? Nigeria! !,

  19. Lawlessness is the order of the day as far as Nigeria is concerned. Why won’t law makers compel the law enforcement agencies to rest the rule of law? I think it is high time we call a spade a spade.
Peace Corps of Nigeria should be left alone to exercise their rights and Mr President should see reasons to sign the bill into law.
