People want to ‘Gettsyburg Undress’ this sexy Abraham Lincoln sculpture

I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly.

A “sexy” sculpture of Abraham Lincoln is getting the internet all hot and bothered.

Writer Zach Stentz sent Twitter into a frenzy this week when he shared a picture of a sultry statue of the 16th President of the United States at the Los Angeles Federal Court house, which Stentz described as a “shirtless young stud suggestively tugging at his waistband like a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.”

Stentz’s steamy post quickly turned into a social media sensation, and launched a flurry of suggestive presidential puns.

“Let’s get you emancipated out of those shorts,” tweeted New York Magazine writer Jesse Singal.

Author and journalist Alec MacGillis cleverly dubbed the statue “The Gettysburg Undress”, while others were less nuanced.

“More like Babe-raham Lincoln,” someone else joked.

Another Twitter user suggested that the government should “Replace every confederate monument with a statue of Hot Lincoln.”

The sculpture, which is called “Young Lincoln,” has heated the halls of the courthouse since it was unveiled in 1941. It was built by a local art student James Lee Hansen, who entered a contest to decorate the federal building, according to The Washington Post.

He ended up winning the competition, earning about $7,200 (the equivalent of about $130,000 today).

Hansen reportedly modeled Lincoln’s tout physique based off his own body.

“Well, from a sculpturing standpoint, it’s better to show the body without any clothes,” Hansen said when the sculpture was revealed. “That’s why I left ’em off.”
