Religious activist blames religion for high rate of poverty in Nigeria

The controversial personality reacts to Nigeria being named the world's poverty capital.

Recently, a new report by World Poverty Clock called this country the poverty capital of the world. UK PM Theresa May has also expressed concern at the large number of poor people living in Nigeria.

The OAP and the convenor of the Free Nation in Christ Online Nation has reacted by blaming the situation on religion.

His post was captioned, "According to Karl Marx: "The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness. To call on them to give up their illusions about their condition is to call on them to give up a condition that requires illusions. The criticism of religion is, therefore, in embryo, the criticism of that vale of tears of which religion is the halo."

"Most times, religion is the taproot through which poverty draws its nutrients. Good quality education is one of the keys ways of escaping poverty, but as long as Churches build schools with church funds and church members cannot atte@d for free, poverty will continue to blossom unhindered!"
