'He has always been overrated, his appointment as a Minister further exposed his ineptitude' - Nigerians drag the heck out of Fashola

A lot of Nigerians are angry over a new statement credited to the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola where he said that it is not the Federal government's problem if some Nigerians do not have electricity. (Read HERE)

Fashola reportedly said, 'And so if you don’t have power, it is not the government’s problem. Let us be honest. The people who are operating the power sector, generation and distribution are now privately owned companies'

Nigerians are not finding the statement funny at all. See all the reactions below....

This should be a lesson to Nigerians. God has given you another chance in 2019. This time assess all presidential candidates check their backgrounds and what they have displayed in the passed not promises they can't keep. Study them carefully before you put that mark on the ballot paper. Choose wisely the next leader of your country and pray to God that his cabinet is competent as well. God bless Nigeria and keep it from selfish prowlers under sheep skin

Lagos State is owing world bank and other money lenders billions of dollars, Tinibu and Fashola borrowed more than any states in Nigeria. None of this ineptitude looters did any meaningful things in Lagos, Individuals are developing Lagos State and not the government. No road, no flyovers, no playing parks etc, potholes and holdup everywhere. They have been overstated especially fashola, he is very wicked and incompetent. He was the one who dug a borehole with $10 million dollars and a website with 70 million naira, what a people. Shine your eyes oh ye Nigerians, irrespective of clan and religious, vote these people out in 2019. APC should leave the power now, they have divided and destroyed Nigerians peace and brotherly love across the country, if APC wins 2019, presidential election, they will scatter and destroy Nigeria, and there will be ethnic or religious wars, and Nigerian will be divided under Buhari. Buhari is an evil man.

The government is grossly incompetent...I would make assumptions that this man is properly exposed and as such he would think outside the box...just a shame. I can only wish Nigerians well....we asked for bad leaders....our values...the moment we start making political post non enticing we would find true leaders come up. Even though the stupid country I relocated to get as he be. People are not a s incompetent as this.

I am still perplexed by fashola's stupid and insensitive statement, he is covering up for a private sector operating in ur own country. Is any private sector above d govt who gave them license to operate? Hell No. He was truly over rated indeed.the man na real mumu. *Hiss

I am not surprised that Fashola uttered those words. I have always insisted that he did not do much in Lagos but some people rated him so high above my imagination. This is the only country that claims to be the giant of Africa but most political office holders travel abroad to teat headache and Nigerans still applaud them. They send their children to study abroad and killed our educational system, yet Nigerans still support them. They build roads which is one of their basic duties, Nigerians line up on the streets to give them compliments. The so called PHCN bill people for power that was never available and we keep paying and grumbling. Come to think of it, what is the relationship between his profession and his ministerial position? Obviously he has nothing to offer as this is core engineering issues and not legal issues. Until we start putting round pegs in round holes and make political offices unattractive, honest and diligent leaders will not rule this country. This is a country where Legislators earn so much as 36m per month apart from allowances and other fraudulent activities, yet the government cannot pay a token of 30k as minimum wage. What a shame! The people of this country need to rise up and say no to slavery In their fatherland.

Fashola! I pray that God will forgive you for the careless comment. But to tell you the fact, if you are respectable person as you claim to be or they claim you are. I will humbly advise you to resign honouable under the ground that you are confused and incompetent to run the affair of the Ministry of power. I will continue to respect you for that , considering your little achievement as the former Governor of Lagos State. If you are knowledgeable and vastaile on the areas of concern, then you need not struggle or give excuses rather you will work harder towards positive solution like another small countries has done. Why are we Jokers ? A country of no law no crime. God will surely deliver us from mediocrity. God Bless Nigeria.

Fashola can't make one defensive statement of his failures, without blaming the last administration, and this is one man, who said during the 2014 campaigns, "any serious government can fix power problems within a period of six months", almost 4yrs. now look at him here.

A lot of the people on this forum are not objective about their views. Igbos can go back to their state if they are not happy in Lagos. We are happy in Lagos and I am sure your state has a lot to offer you. Regarding Fashola' s statement. What he meant is that the discos have been privatised and FG has no control over them.

Jimi Disu once made a very insightful assessment of Fashola saying that he’s a very brilliant technocrat but a very terrible politician. Very enlightened but really terrible with words and dealing with matters that require some public relations. What I got from Fashola’s statement is that at the level we are at as a nation in terms of the inestimable demands for electricity and the unlikeliness of Govt to be able to handle it, it might be time to get private sector actively involved in meeting this demand. He’s not referring to people being able to buy generators or not. He’s just saying can we just take the focus away from blaming the Govt. Rmb we r merely a potentially rich country and not a rich country. Facts

Fashola was born incompetent and he is typical example of technocrats who woul sell own monther , family and country to anybody he can sell it . How convenient - you sell you power sector so it can't be your ptoblem any more. Next will be selling of water supplies , roads, airports , railways , ports ..... So when they not operate - it is not your problem nor problem of the govermment who you work for. Traiders ......sell ,sell Sell your soul to Devil, !

We all need to chill...! I’m really disappointed in the Youths of this country. Rather than been objective with the issue(s) at hand, we are busy playing Tribe shenanigans. The divide and conquer rule (religion and tribe) of these politicians is really working and based on the aforementioned comments herein have also validated this position. Let’s not be quick to anger but reason beyond the obvious. 2019 is here already, think deeply before you vote. God bless Nigeria.
