Samajwadi Party national spokesperson Anurag Bhadauria on Sunday alleged that the policemen had denied his complaint against BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, a day after an alleged brawl during a debate on a news channel office in Film City.

Mr. Bhadauria, released from custody, said the police allegedly ‘abducted’ him unlawfully as they ignored the circumstantial video evidence in which Mr. Bhatia was seen coming at him in an effort to provoke. Following this Mr. Bhadauria pushed him back, he added.

Mr. Bhadauria revealed that Mr. Bhatia, who was in SP till April 2017, in his continuous spur of abusive words and personal attacks had called Akhilesh Yadav and his father “ toti chor ” (water tap thief) that led to the fight.

After the arrest, hundreds of SP leaders and workers gheraoed Gautam Buddh Nagar District Magistrate residence on December 9. A senior UP police officer said a team has been formed and further investigation is under way.
