Los Angeles based artist and vocal instructor Micaela Tobin is releasing her third album as White Boy Scream. Called Bakunawa, it sees Tobin continue with her opera and noise experiments, stretching and manipulating her classically trained voice through electronics “as a means of exploring identity and ancestral trauma”, focusing on her own Philippine heritage.
White Boy Scream is currently taking part in a week-long livestream residency at Los Angeles art space Coaxial. The last of a three-part instalment will take place on 29 May. Rewatch the first stream via YouTube.
Released on 5 June by Deathbomb Arc, Bakunawa will be reviewed in The Wire 437.
