In an interview with the Telegraph, former Inter manager Jose Mourinho has discussed Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez’s transfers to Inter over the Summer.

Mourinho managed the pair of them whilst in charge at Manchester United and praised Lukaku for his ambition and shared his hopes to see Sanchez get back to his best.

“Lukaku has always scored goals whether that be for West Bromwich Albion, for Everton, for United. His moves looks more like player ambition and him having a desire to change rather than he did not deliver anything for United,” he said.

“Sanchez was not a happy man and I think that in every job when you are not happy it is not so easy to perform. Perhaps I am wrong and maybe it was me who was not capable to get the best out of him. Sometimes as a manager you can get the best out of players and other times you are not successful.

“I always felt Sanchez was sad so probably in Italy he will recover his happiness. I hope he can. I always wish well to every player.”
