My dream has always been to represent England and not Nigeria - Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham speaks on his England call-up

My dream has always been to represent England and not Nigeria - Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham speaks on his England call-up

Tammy Abraham has made it clear that his international dream has always been to represent England and not Nigeria.

The 22-year-old Chelsea striker was recently called up by England for the Euro 2020 qualifiers in the Czech Republic and Bulgaria taking place this month.

Tammy, who was born in the UK to Nigerian parents is eligible to represent the senior national team of Nigeria despite representing England at Under 18, Under 19 and Under 21 levels. But with his recent call-up to the England senior team, the young striker will no longer be able switch his allegiance to Nigeria if he plays for England in their upcoming matches.

Abraham has now come out to confess that his first choice option has always been to represent England and not Nigeria.

In a new interview on Mail Online Sport, he said: 'For me, it's always nice to be wanted by two nations. Clearly, it means you're doing something well.

'At the back of my head, I've always wanted to play for England. I was born and grown in England.

'My dream was always to play for England. It doesn't effect the fact Nigeria still wanted me, and it's a big nation. I love both nations. My head was just screwed on with England.

'I'm here and I'm ready to stay. I want to do the best I can. That means playing well, for club and country.

'Just hopefully I can get many years experience under my belt for England.'

Tammy Abraham was called alongside his Chelsea teammate Fikayo Tomori, who was born in Calgary, Canada, to Nigerian parents.

My brother help yourself because Nigeria is not helping anyone. Yakini Rashidi died as a man man and very poor. Same with Sam Okwaraji. We don’t have electricity in Nigeria, please remain in UK and build your good career.

Seeing as how every sector is plagued with corruption thus making those employed the sufferers, who would blame the poor chap. Tammy doesn't need to explain his decision. Most of us would pick England over Nigeria in terms of everything; Sports, Education etc

Its good to dream. Ask Sol Campbell and the rest black strikers who were even 100 percent British. Its never a fulfilling dream to play for England when you are black...

He's made his choice and he should be ready to accept whatever happens afterwards. Besides, Nigeria still has decent strikers like: Osimhen, Iheanacho, Onuachu etc.

Better pikin. Don't waste your breath on this country. 9ja is filled with greedy old fools that don't care about the country they will die and leave behind for the next generation. At least with England you are sure of better pay, better working conditions, better career prospects, better health care and other better better benefits.

I love this young man for his wise decision statement. Niget0iabs love to claim a ready made star. Just like 98% of nigerian females love searching and wanting and hoping to date a ready made financially successful man🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️
