JD(U) urges PM Modi, Amit Shah to take cognisance of Giriraj Singh's 'objectionable' statement about Bihar CM
PATNA: A day after Union minister and BJP’s firebrand leader Giriraj Singh came down heavily on Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar for week-long water logging in the state capital, ruling JD(U) on Saturday urged the saffron party’s top leadership to take cognisance of its Union minister’s “objectionable statements” and ask him to stop making statements which are against the basic spirit of coalition.

JD((U) and BJP are coalition partner in Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar.
“Despite being a Union minister, Giriraj Singh are issuing objectionable statements about the coalition government in Bihar. His recent remarks were highly objectionable. Enough is enough. I appeal the BJP’s top leadership, especially PM Narendra Modi and its president Amit Shah, to take cognizance of Giriraj Singh’s recent statements,” JD(U) national secretary-general and spokesperson K C Tyagi told TOI over phone.
Tyagi also said that BJP’s top leadership should take necessary action to restrain its union minister from issuing those statements which put adverse impact on the image of Nitish Kumar-led coalition government. “They should categorically ask him (Giriraj) to stop making objectionable statements,” Tyagi said.
Earlier on Friday, Giriraj took a swipe on the Bihar CM saying Nitish Kumar should take responsibility for the problems being faced by the people due to waterlogging in Patna. “Definitely...Taali Sardar ko to Gali Sardar Ko (When a leader accepts applause for good things, he must also accept criticism for bad things),” Giriraj had replied when asked whether Nitish Kumar, who has been the CM for past 15 years, should take responsibility for the situation in Patna.

Tyagi also pointed out that Giriraj Singh had been causing more damage to the coalition government than the leader of opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. “Whatever damage Tejashwi Yadav could not do to the image of Nitish government, Giriraj has been doing so by his irresponsible statements about the performance of the coalition government,” he said.
Asked to respond on Tyagi’s demand, the Bihar BJP’s spokesperson Nikhil Anand said, “The NDA alliance was formed with collective natural essence and ethos where all the top leaders of alliance parties are having a good rapport with each other. When the matter belongs to our home why should anyone go outside to make appeal before the media? I agree that some leaders are under pressure to fulfill public grievances during flood and wanted some government officials to pay high attention to the agony and pain of people. The CM and Deputy CM are working tirelessly for the development of Bihar and NDA is a United force which will wipe out the grand alliance parties in 2020 assembly polls in Bihar."
