Use SwipePad to Quickly Access Floating Apps Without Clutter

Floating apps give robust multitasking on Android, but the little floating icons to activate them can clutter up your screen. This little trick can give you the full power of these apps without making your screen look messy.

Floating apps can make your Android tablet work like a PC or give you easy access to apps without moving away from your current screen, like firing up the calculator for a quick multiplication. We have featured several of them over the years, like Floating YouTube for popup videos and Floating Stickies for notes. My problem with these was that having to activate them meant either moving away from my current screen, or trying to remember one gesture too many. And because of that, I didn't end up using them.

But that changed when I offloaded the activation of these to the gesture-based launcher SwipePad. I use SwipePad exclusively for floating apps now and no matter what screen I'm on, I can quickly access any of these with a swipe of my finger. After using, shut the app—it's ready to be relaunched in another swipe anyway.

Of course, you needn't be restricted to SwipePad and can use Swapps or any other launcher which is activated from any app by gestures.
