‘Gee; look at all the nice incentives and lack of tailpipe emissions’ is what many Norwegians say when they buy electric instead of conventional. And they’re not really messing with hybrids: it’s all-electric cars that they want and they want a lot of them.
An additional benefit Norwegian drivers have is that they are allowed to drive their EVs through the bus lanes, and now that sales of such vehicles have gone through the roof (for Norway), bus drivers are starting to notice.
For instance, the first one interviewed in the WSJ video below says he added around eight minutes to the time it normally took him to complete his route, simply because the lanes that used to be free are now clogged up with Tesla Model S, Nissan Leaf and Mitsubishi i-MiEV drivers.
Apparently, this has prompted local officials who are in charge of this to keep a closer eye on it; they may even be forced to revoke the bus lane pass for EVs if they start getting in the way even more.
