Secretary of State candidate David Moore receives IVI-IPO endorsement
For nearly 80 years, the Independent Voters of Illinois-Independent Political Organization has been in the forefront of progressive issues when it comes to supporting local candidates for office.
The storied organization, IVI-IPO, announced Tuesday April 19, 2022 its slate of endorsed candidates for the June 28 primary election.
For Illinois Secretary of State, IVI-IPO endorsed David Moore. Currently, serving as 17th Ward alderman, this is Moore’s first run for statewide office. In 1997, the Auburn Gresham resident is the only candidate in this race to help Secretary Jesse White circulate petitions for the office. At the time, the Democratic Party regulars also did not endorse White.
“The secretary of state’s seat must remain a servant’s seat. It cannot revert back to being a steppingstone to fulfill people’s political ambitions and resumes,” said Moore.
“I’m running for secretary of state because it’s one of the few offices that touches every Illinois resident directly, regardless of political affiliation.”
Moore’s campaign slogan is, “Service. Experience. Integrity.” He believes those are the three most important aspects of the secretary of state’s office and with the support of IVI-IPO he looks forward to delivering on that promise.
IVI-IPO has endorsed Moore for each of his political campaigns. The organization’s Jesus Salazar said the group would promote endorsed candidates through its membership, newsletter and various broadcast and social media platforms.
IVI-IPO’s mission is to achieve social justice through good government by increasing voter participation and knowledge, by providing a framework for candidate evaluation and by electing responsive government officials.
