Infiniti’s facelifted and…elongated 2016 QX50 SUV has arrived in US dealerships at a lower price than the model it replaces.

Introduced at this year’s New York Auto Show, the 2016 Infiniti QX50 shifts to the longer platform of the Chinese-market model with a 3.2 inch extended wheelbase (113.4 inches versus 110.2 inches) and a 4.5 inch gain in overall length (186.8 inches versus 182.3 inches). This adds 4.3 inches in rear passenger legroom and 3.9-inches in knee room.

Elsewhere, the new model year brings some light revisions, mainly to the exterior such as the tweaked front and rear ends, plus a 0.8-inch increase in ride height, a new Hagane Blue exterior color, and improved standard and optional content.

According to Infiniti, “For 2016, the QX50 includes more than $1,700 worth of added standard features at a more accessible price”, with a moonroof and heated seats now standard across the range.

All QX50s are powered by the same 325hp 3.7-liter V6 as before, with the RWD model starting from $34,450 and the AWD from $35,850, both $550 less than the respective 2015MY versions, and both excluding (*) a $995 destination and handling fee.
