Even though many have tried and failed to do a proper comparison test between these three cars, we still had high hopes for this video. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned.
First of all, this guy was going on about how impressive it is to have these cars race each other on a Formula 1 track – which sounds amazing, if the drivers are giving 110% with all things being equal.
But no, nothing was equal here. There were two people on board the LaFerrari and the Porsche 918, whereas the P1 only had the driver, so already we’re talking about a weight unbalance.
Then, if the same driver isn’t behind the wheel of each car, how can we hope to compare their lap times without eliminating the human element?
And lastly, near the end of the lap, the passenger in the LaFerrari signals the driver (Adrian Sutil of all people) to slow down! What was that about?
On top of that, it’s hard to say which car can corner more aggressively or which driver can get on the throttle quicker since we’re talking about different drivers/owners.
The video description says that “instead of a drag race or an airfield” they’ve went and filmed at Spa – and yes, that sounds much better, except that we don’t get any relevant information from this video.
Actually, they would have helped us out more had they just raced in a straight line at an airfield.
