KoleTonics are a lineup of beverages designed to offer different functional benefits. They include varieties like “Dreams”, “Ignite”, and “Happy”.

The beverages are made by Kole Life Foods, which is a nutritional supplement company founded by Dr. Bankole Johnson. Dr. Johnson is an award-winning scientist, according to KoleTonics.com, and he has formulated each beverage with “amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and herbal ingredients” backed by real science to provide real health benefits.

The end result is Kole Tonics, marketed as “science based tonics” that promote “a healthy brain”. They promise to help stimulate your body and mind using more than just caffeine and sugar.

How Do KoleTonics Work?

Kole Tonics all work in a similar way: they promise to give your brain and body the amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and herbal ingredients needed to support healthy activity. All four flavors of Kole Tonics have no calories and are flavored with natural flavors.

Kole Tonics come in four different varieties, including each of the following:

Dreams: A Sleep Tonic

This tonic contains 250mcg (4167% Daily Value) of vitamin B12 along with 400mcg of folic acid and 100mcg of magnesium. The active ingredient, however, is a 3g dose of melatonin and a 500mg dose of L-Tryptophan. Together, these ingredients are designed to promote a healthy, restful sleep.

Melatonin is a popular ingredient taken before sleep, and it’s typically taken in a dose between 0.5mg and 5mg – so the 3mg dose in Dreams is exactly what you like to see. There are no calories and no sugar in the formula, although it does contain natural flavors.

Happy: A Feel Good Tonic

Happy contains a berry blend made with blue raspberry and other ingredients to “support a positive mood, tranquility, bliss, and a sense of wellbeing among healthy people.” It uses ingredients like niacin to promote heathy blood flow to the brain, while vitamin B12 promotes healthy brain cells.

One concerning thing about Happy is that the manufacturer doesn’t actually list its ingredient dosages: most of the ingredients are hidden behind a proprietary formula. “Caffeine” is one of the listed ingredients. We know that the total proprietary blend contains 780mg of formula (including four other ingredients), but we don’t know the specific dosage of caffeine.

Like other KoleTonics, Happy contains no calories and is flavored with natural flavors.

Ignite Vitality Tonic

Ignite is a “vitality tonic” that promises to boost your energy using a blend of traditional energy-boosting herbs, botanicals, and amino acids. Key ingredients powering this formula include ginseng, oat straw extract, yohimbine HCL, and L-citrulline. Basically, it’s a collection of ingredients that boost your energy and widen your blood vessels, helping to encourage healthy circulation throughout the body and enhancing your physical and mental energy.

There are no calories in Ignite. It’s flavored using natural flavors and colored using vegetable juice colors.

Inspire Brain Tonic

The Inspire Brain Tonic includes a nootropic formula called Cognizin, which is a type of Citicoline. There’s 500mg of Citicoline and 100mg of caffeine mixed with high levels of vitamin B12 (500mcg of 8333% DV), thiamin (10mg of 667% DV), and niacin (16mg of 80% DV).

Citicoline, by the way, is a precursor to choline and acetylcholine within your brain. Choline and acetylcholine are used by your brain to form memories. There’s plenty of research indicating a connection between better memory formation and choline supplementation. In fact, it’s used by researchers in some studies as a way to prevent Alzheimer’s and other degenerative neurological conditions.

Basically, it’s a blend of B vitamins, caffeine, and choline to help fuel your brain throughout the day. Like all other Kole Tonics, there are no calories and the formula is flavored using natural flavors.

“Professor Johnson states, “One fine day, I was sent to the grocery store by my wife to purchase some items. I happened to pass by the beverage counters, and was overwhelmed by the large number of products. As I started to review what was on offer, two ideas came into my mind. One, looking at the formulations of the so called “functional” drinks, most of the ingredients seemed to me like that they would be little better than a placebo. I believed that with my knowledge of brain science, I could certainly develop more “functional” products that would provide the consumer with a greater benefit and enjoyment.
