These are said to be the first official images – likely computer renderings – of Audi’s Frankfurt Motor Show C-BEV Concept car believed to hint at their upcoming all-electric Q6 e-tron sports crossover.

From these pictures, the study seems to (further) blur the lines between Audi’s Avant station wagons, Allroad crossovers and ‘Q’ series SUVs, looking a little more rugged than their recent Prologue Allroad Concept with which it shares its core design language.

Back in March this year, Audi R&D boss Ulrich Hackenberg had confirmed the development of a “battery-powered sports activity vehicle in the large premium segment with a range of more than 500 kilometers (+310 miles)” set to go on sale in “early 2018”.

He had also revealed that the crossover model will ride on the second generation of the group’s modular longitudinal platform (MLB 2) used on the latest Q7 SUV.

Tesla’s upcoming Model X electric-crossover will be one of the main competitors for the new battery-powered Q6 e-tron. According to some reports, Audi may eventually expand the range of the Q6 to include plug-in hybrid versions as well.
