Almost 40 years after the launch of the original 3 Series, BMW celebrates 10 million 3 Series Sedans produced with over 14 million units of this model series built so far.

The ten millionth 3 Series Sedan rolled off the production line at the BMW plant in Munich, with the landmark vehicle to be an Imperial Blue 320d. This is after all the only facility of the Bavarian maker to have produced all six generations of the popular BMW, having a production capacity of 1,000 cars per day, with half of them being a 3 Series model. BMW is also building the 3 Series at Plants Regensburg (Germany), Rosslyn (South Africa) and Tiexi (China).

“The success story of the BMW 3 Series started here in Plant Munich and is now reaching a very special highpoint here as well. The fact that this landmark vehicle was produced at our plant is a particular honour for us and makes me very proud indeed of my team”, said Hermann Bohrer, Plant Director at the BMW Group facility in Munich.

Production of the latest iteration of the successful 3 Series was launched in July this year, offering for the first time in the model’s history a plug-in hybrid version dubbed the 330e that made it to the Frankfurt Motor Show.
