Time Warner to show final six Dodgers’ games free on KDOC

Remember what it was like to hear Vin Scully broadcast the Dodgers on TV? Remember the Dodgers on TV?

Maybe this will jar the memory banks: The Dodgers’ final six games of the season will be broadcast for all to see, free and everything.

Time Warner Cable will broadcast the six final games locally on KDOC, an independent channel based in Orange County known for classic television shows and the NHL’s Ducks.

The six home games include the final three against the Giants (Sept. 22-24) and the Rockies (Sept. 26-28). The Dodgers could clinch the National League West somewhere in those six games.

All cable and satellite companies carry KDOC, which can also be picked up with an antenna, so now the other 70-some percent of the Los Angeles market can discover what’s been going on all season with the Dodgers’ new network, SportsNet LA.

Time Warner spent a fortune ($8.35 billion) to sign the Dodgers, but unexpectedly has been unable to reach deals with DirecTV or any of the other major carriers. It’s made for one painful blackout.

If this agreement with KDOC is mostly a goodwill, or public relations maneuver for TWC, no matter. At this point, six games are better than none.
